Runners
Unfortunately I don't have a very
good shot of this painting. It is a large one measuring 6 feet high and
14 feet long. The story behind this project is a great one. This piece depicts
a race on St. Pete Beach where they hold them. The big building on the right
is the famous Don Cesar Hotel. The runners start at the southern end of
the beach called Pass-a-Grill Beach and head north a few miles and then
turn around and come back. This scene shows them heading south almost at
the finish line. The runner who commissioned me to do the painting races
on the beach had a good sense of humor. He is the third one back in the
black shorts and white shirt. The other runners in the painting are world
famous runners like Frank Shorter (the one in the lead).
