This painting depicts a White Egret standing on an old tree stump that has orchid plants growing on it and is surrounded by palm leaves. I really enjoy painting old wood and I think the contrast between the texture of the wood, the soft feathers of the bird and the smoothness of the orchids and palm leaves gives this piece its particular appeal.
