Great Blue Herons like a lot of birds go through a color change during the year. I always try to paint the birds at their most colorful.
This classic piece and 'Natural Grace' make a great pair. I originally intended them to be that way. Lots of people have agreed with me and been very happy with both of them displayed together.
Herons and Egrets are the two main species that got me into painting birds in the first place. I became fascinated with them at an early age watching their behavior as they waded across the flats and among the mangrove islands.
